Over the past few weeks I have been consistently baking something in the kitchen..That is the only activity my daughter doesn’t get bored within few seconds and also am not that ‘Creative’ Mom in putting together activities for her 🙂 I stick to my strength which is kitchen 🤷😬 One disadvantage is the moment I tell her that we are going to bake something she will keep asking ‘When will it be ready’? 😂😂 Have to keep giving her reasons and explanations while she messes up with flour/cookie cutters..
After baking different types of cookies and cupcakes I wanted to bake something without sugar. With very few ingredients this Spicy Biscuit is such a great tea time snack for Adults too. You can use just the ’round’ shaped cookie cutter and use this biscuit as Papdi in Papdi Chaat.. Instead of the deep fried version you can try this relatively healthy baked version for Chaat..
Notes :
- You can increase the quantity of spice powders based on your liking
- Since I didn’t have Dried Kasuri Methi leaves I added Dried Oregano leaves instead
- The following measurement yields around 28-30 medium size biscuits. If you don’t have whole wheat flour you can try this recipe with All Purpose Flour
- Cool these biscuits for few minutes before relishing it. Also make sure to store them in Airtight containers before they are completely cooled

pieces
|
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil you can use melted butter too if you want
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for coating on top of biscuits before baking
- 1 teaspoon Ajwain/Carom Seeds
- 2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tbsp Dried Oregano Leaves
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp hing/Asafetida
Ingredients
|
|
- Sieve Whole Wheat Flour and Baking Powder together
- Add salt, oil and all the dry ingredients
- Use your hands and mix everything well
- Add cold water little by little and form a stiff dough
- Use a rolling pin, take a portion of dough and roll them to a circle
- Use cookie cutters of your choice and shape them
- After shaping roll the remaining dough to a small circle and continue shaping them
- This process is bit tedious and it will take anywhere between 15-20 minutes. Also make sure to roll the dough to even thickness all the time. That way all the biscuits wil take similar to get baked
- Now arrange them neatly on a baking tray
- Use a Pastry brush and brush some oil on top of all the biscuits
- Use a fork and make some holes in the biscuits
- Preheat the oven to 180c and bake the biscuits for 18 -20 minutes.. Depending on the oven the baking time may vary..Just remove a biscuit after 15 minutes and when you try to break it, it shouldn't soft or soggy
- Delicious and crunchy biscuits are ready to be served 😋😋
