This year Navarathri/Dusshera starts from tomorrow (13/10/2015) and am planning to share some of easy peasy sundal recipes here today. Sundal (சுண்டல்) in Tamil is nothing but a savory item prepared as an offering to God. Legumes and pulses are mainly used to prepare this item. Since we are offering to God, adding onions and garlic isn’t appropriate and hence I have not used in these recipes. However if you are preparing this as a snack item for your kids then you can very much add fried onions to Sundal.

Ingredients
- 1 cup Dal Moongdal / Yellow Split / Pasiparuppu )
- 1/4 cup coconut Grated
- 2 Green Chillies
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- pinch Turmeric a
- Curry leaves few
- 1/4 tbsp Chopped Ginger pieces
- pinch Hing a generous
- 1/4 tsp Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Urad Dal

Instructions
- Pressure cook Moongdal for upto 2 whistles
- If you over cook the dal it will get mashed up. So kindly make sure to adjust the timings according to the pressure pan/cooker you use
- Alternatively you could also boil Moongdal in a saucepan for about 10-15 minutes
- Once they are 3/4th cooked we can prepare Tadka for the Sundal
- Heat oil in a nonstick pan.Add mustard seeds, urad dal seeds and curry leaves
- Let them splutter. Add green chillies, chopped ginger pieces, turmeric and hing
- Saute for about 3 to 4 minutes. Later add cooked moongdal and then dd a pinch of salt.
- Close the pan and let them get cooked for about 5 minutes 5At last add grated coconut and mix everything well
- After few minutes turn off the flame .Moong dal sundal is ready to be offered to God
