Usually mint is used for seasoning, adding flavor to rasam, preparing chutneys and health drinks etc. For the first time i happen to eat mint rice in my mother in law’s house.The dish was delicious and I had it with Onion raitha, pappad.It might be a known dish for many but for me it was new.She(my mother in law)had prepared it without using ginger,garlic,coriander leaves.Generally mint is sweeter but to make it little more spicy I have added them. It turned out really well.Also it didn’t take much time for preparation. It has great medicinal values too. Even in Ayurveda medicinal treatment mint is used for balancing Pitta.

- 1 Cup Mint (Pudina) -
- 1/4 cup Corrainder leaves - .
- 4 Green Chillies . -
- 2 cloves Garlic - .
- 1/2 inch Ginger - .
- 1/2 cup Onion (finely chopped) - .
- 2 chillies . Dried red -
- 2 tbsps Salt - .
- 4 tbsps Cooking Oil - .

Instructions
- Grind mint,coriander leaves,green chillies,garlic,ginger to a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, channa dal,red chillies,curry leaves.
- Once its starts spluttering add onion and fry until onion turns golden brown.
- Now pour the paste (prepared in Step 1) to the pan and add salt, little water.
- Turn the gas to sim and let it be for 5-10 mins.
- Mix hot white rice with this paste and serve it.
- I prepared the dish this Monday.I had it with yummy potato fry and pappad.OMG even now my mouth is watering thinking of that deadly combination 🙂
