Horse Gram or Kollu in Tamil is one of the main ingredients for preparing this dosa. Kollu has various health benefits. It is believed that horse gram helps in reducing bad cholestrol, helps in weight reduction as well. Instead of the regular dosa you can try this variation.Also best way to sneak in different pulses, legumes in our day to day meal.

Ingredients
- 2 cups Idli Rice
- 2 cups Kollu Horsegram
- 2 tbsps urad dal
- 1/2 tbsp Methi Seeds
- 6 Dried Red Chillies
- 10 Small Onions or one Large Onion
- 1 inch ginger
- 5 pods garlic
- 2 tbsps salt
- few curry leaves
- 2 tbsps cooking oil

Instructions
- Soak raw rice,kollu,urad dal and methi seeds together for about 2 hours
- Wash and rinse thoroughly
- Grind them by adding red chillies,small onions,ginger,garlic curry leaves pods
- Wait until it becomes a smooth battar.Add around 1/4 cup water in between while grinding
- Later transfer the batter to a vessel, add hing & salt.
- Let it ferment for at least 4-5 hours
- Heat the Dosa Tawa.Spread the battar in circular shape
- Pour cooking oil in the sides and cook until dosai becomes golden brown
- Crispy thin dosa is now ready. Since we have added onions & other spices, it is better to use the batter within 3 m-4 days..
- Remove from the tawa and serve it with idli podi & jaggery(totally optional) . You can also serve it with chutney or sambar.
Method 2 :
- Alternatively, you can exclude onions,chillies & other spices.. Just grind it as the plain batter and you can use that too..
- Then let the batter get fermented & prepare dosa
- Plain kollu dosai is ready to be served..
