Next on list in the post partum diet series is this simple Curry leaf powder. The first few weeks after I truely survived only in this powder & Angaya Podi.. Its less spicy & light for your tummy. There are days when I cant leave Aadhu alone for 10 minutes so I hardly couldnt make any elaborate dishes. I will pressure cook rice and some how will just do a stirfry of veggies or prepare a koottu. I will then mix hot white rice with this karuvepilai podi, add a generous dose of ghee and then eat it with a pappad or sometimes a simple raita would do.
You can also use this podi as a side dish to idli & dosai..I have used less dried red chilles. However if you would like the podi really spicy then add 4-6 extra chillies. Make sure to use clean dry spoon for long shelf life. I have seen people adding garlic too, but i feel garlic overpower curry leaves’ flavour & aroma. So i avoid adding garlic. This is my mother’s recipE.
