Whenever we go out for dinner the first order will always be 2/4 Tomato Soup😃 As far as I remember I have never ordered a separate bowl of soup for myself when I was young. Appa graciously gives his share of fried bread pieces to me and not to my brother 😉 Adhula oru alpa sandhosham. Coming back to the 30DayBlogging Challenge, I made 6 different soups in the past two weeks. Soups definitely made my dinners healthy, delicious yet light on my tummy. The best part is none of these soups require stock cubes to add flavor and no corn flour is required to thicken the soup. Adding to the Soup Collection I made this Cabbage Soup recently and to it turned out great. I usually make Cabbage Koottu or Poriyal. This is the first time I tried preparing Soup with Cabbage.
This time instead of Nutritional Yeast I used Rice Starch Water (சாதம் வடிச்ச தண்ணி). Long back remember seeing in some random cookery show where the Chef made Vegetable Clear soup with Starch Water. Since I mostly Pressure Cook Rice starch water is a rare thing in the kitchen. The regular batch of Ponni Rice got over recently and the brand which we usually cook is out of stock. Indian Grocery store here said that new batch will be available onky after two weeks. So bought around 5 kgs of Basmati Rice and since I usually cook Rice using ‘Draining Method’ saved some of the starch water to add to the soup.
If you don’t have Rice Starch Water you can add Corn Starch to thicken the soup.
Day 17 Dinner bowl was a simple Cabbage Spring Onion soup & Avocado Roasted Capsicum Salad
