Bean Burger Patties are so easy to make. Great way to add proteins in our breakfast meal. The recipe is so versatile. You can add your choice of legumes, add Tofu/Paneer or even Boiled Potato depending on the availability of ingredients. I had some left over pressure cooked Mung Beans & Black Eyed Beans. Made these super delicious Patty for breakfast today. Also to add more Indian flavor to the burger I used a simple Mint Chutney as a spread. Husband loves Mayo so he had his Burger with Mayonnaise spread. The patties are wholesome meal in itself along with a simple salad
The following measurement yields around 8 large bean burger patties. I pan fried them. If you want you can bake them in oven too. I used Gram Flour to bind everything together and it also helps in yielding a cripsy layer on top of the Burger patty. The patties freeze well too. You can take it from freezer and pan fry them too. Have added pictures below for your reference

- 1 cup Green Moong Bean Pressure Cooked
- 1 cup Black Eyed Bean Pressure Cooked
- 1 onion
- 1/2 teaspoon Grated Ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon Grated Garlic
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
- 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
- 1 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup Gram Flour/Besan/கடலை மாவு
- 1/2 cup Bread Crumbs
- Few Coriander Leaves
- 3 tablespoon Oil
- 1 cup mint leaves
- 1 green chilli
- 1 tbsp urad dal
- 1/4 cup coconut
- 1 dried red chilli
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 teaspoon Chaat Masala

- In a mixie jar add the pressure cooked Moong Beans and Black Eyed beans along with ginger and garlic
- Without adding water grind them until they are slightly mushy
- To this beans add finely chopped onion, gram flour, bread crumbs, salt, coriander leaves and all the spice powders
- The size of the patties can be based on your preference. Shape them and freeze the rest
- In a pan add 3-4 tablespoon Oil and once it is hot add the patties
- Wait until they are cooked well on both sides. If you want to make it even more healthier you can brush little oil on the patties and then bake them in oven for 20 minutes
- We generally prefer Pan fried ones
- This chutney is inspired from our regular southindian style Thogayal
- Heat oil in a pan and add urad dal. Saute until they are golden brown
- Add red chilli, hing, salt and coconut
- Saute everything together for 2-3 minutes
- Grind them by adding little water
- Once they are turned to a smooth paste add more water to make it to a spreading consistency
- Add a generous pinch of chat masala and a teaspoon of lemon juice
- You can use this as a spread on Burger
- Take the burger bun on a plate
- Spread Chutney,add cucumber slices. Then top it off with lettuce or salad leaves
- Place the bean burger patty
- Then spread the chutney again. Add some tomatoes and now top it off with another bun
- Delicious Indian Style Bean Burger is ready to be served
- Alternatively you can also use Mayonnaise as a spread
