Tikkis are my fav snack and I have prepared tikkis with potato, paneer, poha & even with left over moong dal.
Last weekend for the first time ever I made this yummy sweetpotato tikkis for breakfast and served it with a simple mint chutney. They turned out so good and was very filling too. You can even serve these as starters in a party or give them to kids as an after school snack
Tikkis are my fav snack and I have prepared tikkis with potato, moong dal, paneer etc. Last weekend I made this yummy sweetpotato tikkis for breakfast , served it with a simple mint chutney. Ingredients for Tikki :
- Sweet Potatoes – 3
- Onion – 1
- Garlic Pods – 2
- Chili Powder – 1/2 tbsp
- Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tbsp
- Salt – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric – a pinch
- Hing – a pinch
- Coriander,curry leaves – few
- All purpose flour – 1 tbsp
- Corn flour – 1/2 tbsp
- Oil – 2-3 tbsp.
Preparation :
Peel off the skin and pressure cook sweet potatoes up to 3 whistles.
Once they are cooled down mash it completely.
Chop onions finely, grate garlic.
In a bowl mix onions, mashed potato, garlic and all other dry ingredients together.
You don’t have to add water. Since the cooked potato itself has enough water to bind all the ingredients together.
Let the mixture rest for about 4-5 minutes.
Shape the mixture into small tikkis (i.e first make small balls and then flatten it to form a tikki)
Heat oil in a non-stick pan and fry tikkis until they are golden brown on both sides.
Optionally you can dip the tikkis in breadcrumbs before frying to add more crispiness. If you don’t have crumbs you can skip the step too. I fried it without crumbs it tasted great.
Chutney :
Wash mint leaves, few coriander leaves.
Grind together these leaves along with some salt, a small green chili, hing and 1 tbsp coconut.
Add 1/2 tsp of yogurt to the chutney, adjust seasoning and serve it along with tikkis.
Perfect, healthy snack is ready to be served.
