This is one of the simplest side dishes for poori or chappathi. You can even have it with plain ghee rice. You can use frozen green peas too for this recipe. If you are using dried peas (like me) then soak them in cold water for atleast 5-6 hours. You can replace peas with channa or any other bean v
Soak Green Peas (if using dried) for about 5-6 hours.
Pressure cook peas along with pinch of salt and a turmeric for up to 5 whistles
Make sure the peas is completely cooked but don’let them get mashed up
In a kadai heat oil and add mustard, jeera, curry leaves, green chilli
Let them splutter
Add chopped onions, tomatoes, ginger garlic paste and all dry powders one by one
Keep sauteing them for at least 10 minutes in low flame.
The onions will become translucent & tomatoes will be half cooked. Add a cup of water, let it boil.
In the meantime make cashew paste by grinding 10 cashews with some milk. This paste helps in thickening the gravy. In case if you don’t have cashews in hand, you can just grind some coconut and add that paste too
Now add the cooked peas, and let the whole mixture boil for up to 10 minutes. If you are using frozen peas, you need to add them now.
Garnish with coriander leaves & Green Peas masala is ready to be served. Easiest and hassle free recipe that can be made quickly
