Instructions
Wash and rinse Rice and Moongdal thoroughly
Pressure cook Rice+Moongdal along with turmeric for upto 5 whistles. I usually add 4 cups of water for 1 cup of Rice+Dal mixture
After 5 whistles check if rice and dal are cooked. Keep it aside
-
Add onions, tomatoes and the other chopped veggies of your choice
Add salt and coriander powder. Saute for 2-3 minutes
Add 1/4 cup water and let the veggies get cooked in medium flame
After nearly 10 minutes add the cooked Rice+Daal and mix everything together.Add water if necessary. I love my kichdi to be slightly loose and runny. Adjust salt
Simmer the flame. Let it cook for 4-5 minutes
Heat ghee in a Tadka pan and add jeera seeds, curry leaves. Let them splutter
Add tadka on top of the kichdi before serving
The best side dish for kichdi in my opinion are pickle, pappad or chips and some yogurt
Little A loves this frymes and hence I made this for her.
