Instructions
Soak RawRice,Idli Rice, Urad dal and Fenugreek seeds together for 4 hours
If you have leftover cooked rice (சாதம்) you can mash it with your hands first and then add it to the grinder. This step is optional and adding rice might yield soft Aappams.
Add grated coconut as well. Grind everything to a smooth batter by adding water
Add salt and sugar. Mix everything well. Leave the batter to ferment for atleast 6-8 hours
If you are planning to prepare Aappam for breakfast then take the batter out from refrigerator atleast an hour before
Add coconut milk, tender coconut water and mix everything well. The consistency will be something like this
After an hour start making Aappams
Heat Aappam pan and pour 2 ladles of water.
Rotate the pan and then pour 1/2 ladle of batter in the center.Drizzle oil and then close the pan
After nearly 3 minutes Aappam will be ready
Serve it with Kuruma or any sidedish of your choice
