Few days back I received an email from Nerissa if I conduct cooking workshops/classes for South Indian vegetarian dishes. The reason (why she wanted to learn) she mentioned was really sweet and was more than happy to help her. For an ordinary person like me teaching someone is what I never ever imagined even in my dreams. However I decided to give my best and replied her with available dates, menu etc. She has never tasted authentic Tamil food and never cooked one before. I planned my menu in such a way that it will be easier for her to learn quickly as well as she can start cooking those dishes at her home after my session.
The previous day of the class I bought all required vegetables, prepared fresh homemade rasam powder, shredded coconut etc
Prep Work :
Chopped the veggies, cleaned my stovetop and kept the vessels, spatula ready. I was a bit nervous that morning.
We never spoke over the phone and all we did was exchange few emails. Since there was an issue in rail/tube networks, she had to take bus and I went to the bustop nearby to pick her up (by walk )
The moment we started talking I felt relaxed. Also she was equally passionate about food , was eager to learn and hence it made my job a bit easier. Explained and demonstrated the process of making all these delicious vegetarian dishes.
